The numbers are staggering: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 1 in 5 workplace deaths occurred in the construction industry.

Branch Safety Lunch 2024

Throughout May, Branch doubled down on our safety communications and training. Danny Minnix, Branch Vice President of Safety, and the entire Branch safety team visited every job site. The message: Every single Branch employee-owner is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of others.

The key points:

Constant Focus: Branch safety regulations often exceed industry standards, yet we must maintain constant focus. Most workplace accidents happen when we lose focus, when we get too comfortable, and when we take safety for granted.

Speak Up: Branch honors the employee-owners who speak up about safety concerns on the job. Our job sites are filled with people of all experience levels and varying tolerances for risk.

Open communication on the job site encourages employee-owners to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear of reprisal or judgment.

Communicating safety concerns – regardless of title or job level – is a fundamental responsibility of each Branch employee-owner. When concerns are voice and action is taken, it will lead to:

  • the identification of potential hazards and unsafe conditions before they lead to accidents or injuries.
  • a greater culture of safety.
  • the discovery of hazard patterns that we can use to make structural improvements and the prevention of recurring problems.
