Washington & Lee University Natatorium

The W&L Natatorium is a state of the art 44,000 SF aquatic facility used for collegiate competitions and recreation. The building consists of a basement mechanical space and features a 40-meter competition six 25-yard training lanes, 8 competition lates, and a deep water configuration to allow for a possible diving addition. The water is treated with UV lighting to reduce the amount of chlorine used and a complete turnover of the water through the filtration system takes only 4 hours. The new system injects carbon dioxide into the water to keep the pH at about 7.4.

The Washington and Lee Natatorium is a new 44,000 SF aquatic facility used for collegiate competitions and recreation events such as swim team practice, physical education and swim lessons. The building consists of a basement mechanical space, pool deck level and concourse level. The large pool has eight 40-meter competition lanes, six 25-yard training lanes and a deep-water configuration to allow for a possible diving addition. The water is treated with UV lighting to reduce the amount of chlorine used. In addition to the 589,000-gallon pool, the Natatorium includes team and general locker rooms, coaches’ suites, spectator viewing areas, team lounge, wet classrooms, dry training area, and back-of-house spaces.
